U8, U9 and U10s Mini Tournament
The Club recently hosted its second annual mini tennis tournament on 1st - 2nd August.   Once again, it attracted players from outside the Club - from Clitheroe, Blackpool, Hambleton and the Ribble Valley as well as children from the Club.

The U9s kicked off proceedings on the Saturday morning with the sun blazing down on the courts. With some tense close matches between Ashton Kasam-Sharples and Niamh Barnsley-Ryan the eventual winner was Morgan Gardner, with the youngest player, Benjy Orr in runner-up position. (both from Lancaster)

Benjy Orr continued his fine form in the U8s competition in the afternoon, but was just pipped from the top position by Theo Upton from Blackpool. Callum Mackenzie and Marcus Palamountain from Lancaster, were playing their first competition and showed gutsy determination to stay in the rallies to develop match play strategies to challenge their opponents. There was also strong competition from Stanley Grace and Jensen Stansfield from Hambleton.

The Sunday afternoon U10s competition was won by Thomas Stephens from the Ribble Valley. He won all his matches but was challenged in his final match by Lancaster’s Morgan Gardner, who managed to save several match points, before finishing in runner-up position. Kiaf Imran from Clitheroe came 3rd, with Lancaster’s Connor Mackenzie stealing a win from Rebecca Haydock, enabling him to finish in 4th position.
