Successful Junior Open Tennis Tournament
The Club held a successful Junior Open Singles Tournament over the May school holiday break. There were a number of other tournaments inthe north-west at the same time this year, so not quite as many entrants aslast year, but nevertheless all the young players enjoyed their matches and theopportunity to play competitive tennis.

After a round -robin format in the 14 & U Boys' Singles, Lancaster Tennis Club junior member Elliot Gardner (Carnforth High School} was the winner with Dan Main, also from LTC (Ripley St Thomas) the runner up. The match between these winners was of a high standard with good rallies,
and played in a good spirit.

In U12 Boys Singles Filip Stuchlik also from LTC (Dallas Road Primary School} was the winter with another Club player Lewi Robinson-Mackenzie (Ripley St Thomas) as the runner up.

There was only one girls’competition, and in the U12 Singles Sophie Parkinson also from LTC ( St Lukes, Slyne with Hest Primary School) had a very close match with excellent rallies in beating runner up Hannah Smith ( Pennington C of E Primary, Ulverston

In the 10 & Under Boys'singles Tomáš Grime, another Lancaster Club player ( Cathedral Catholic Primary School) continued his successfulcompetition career by beating fellow LTC player Jolyon Troughton ( Lancaster Christ Church Primary School ) in an excellent match.

The trophies were presented by Ken Riley who has sponsored the competition for the last three years and this support is much appreciated. As a youngman, Ken played at a very high standard being selected to compete in Junior Wimbledon.

Tournament Organiser Pat Clelland thanked co-organiser Eden Parkinson, all helpers and parents for supporting the tournament and said: 
" I am pleased to be able to organisthis tournament and each year we can see the standard of play improving.

The match between 8 year old Tomáš and 10 year old Jolyon was amazing. Throughout the tournament the behaviour of the children wasexemplary with no disputes and they mostly umpired their own games. “
