Lancaster juniors close in on 2 titles
The U17 Lancaster Tennis team had a busy day last Saturday with two away fixtures to fit in.

They started off at 10am at Lunesdale Tennis Club in Caton with a local Lancaster league match. Captain James Main won his match after a close tie break and there was an excellent pair of wins from new signing Oliver MacNeil, who paired up with Ronan McGrath for a tie break doubles victory.

The Lunesdale captain Elliot Gardner was on fire as he earned two rubbers for his side to force a 3-3 draw. For the evening match in the Fylde League at the Ansdell Arena in Lytham, Elliot Gardne transferred his allegiance back to Lancaster, and led the squad to a fantastic 6-0 victory. Dan Main only lost two games in his two straight set wins and there were also victories for Reuben Orr who also won his singles in straight sets and Ronan McGrath who won with a third set tiebreaker. Elliot and Dan and Ronan and Reuben went on to win their doubles as Lancaster pushed 7 points clear of rivals Hambleton in the battle for the title.

The supporters at both games were treated to some superb tennis and fantastic hospitality by the host parents at both clubs.

Also in the Fylde League, the U14 team battled it out against Moorlands at home. Three close singles matches for captain Joel McAllister, Jacob Orr and Niall Bowman all ended in tight third set tiebreakers with Moorlands just clinching the wins.

Joel McAllisterand Jacob Orr fought back in their doubles match after losing the first set to win a nail-biting tie break in the third set.
