Funds raised at the Bright Ideas for Tennis charity day on April 9 are being used to help with the cost of an  LTA recognised Open Junior Singles Tournament (Grade 6) being organised by Pat Clelland, Junior Organiser, from Monday May 30th to Thursday June 2nd - extended to June 3rd if weather wet.

All young players based in Tennis Clubs in the local area are very welcome to take part in this event, which will be both boys and girlssingles this year – 14 years old and under, 12 and under are mixed singles and 16 and under is a boys only event.   It’s not just for members of Lancaster Tennis Club but for juniors from other Clubs too. There will be prizes for the competition winners as well as the runners up.

The tournament will be supervised by DBS checked Club players. It will be run as a Round Robin competition, with the exact format depending on the number of entries. It may be possible for players to enter more than one event, with an entry fee of £10 per event.

Tournament organiser Pat Clelland said:
" We hope that lots of young players from local clubs will enter the tournament.  Competitive play in the tournament will also be valuable experience for those players who play in junior teams and in regional and national tournaments.”
Entry forms and further information can be obtained from Pat Clelland, Lancaster Tennis Club Junior Organiser on tel: 07870642267 or 01524 311737 or email:    Closing date for entries is Wednesday May 25th.
