Cat Smith MP visit to Club
Cat Smith MP visit to Club
On Saturday August 22 , members and guests of Lancaster Tennis Club welcomed MP for Lancaster and Fleetwood Cat Smith to the clubhouse. It was a chance for her to review the facilities of the full Lancaster Cricket and Sports Club in Lune Road and to hear about their plans to widen the range of activities on offer to include junior football and camping for the Lancaster October Music Festival.

She also heard about the Tennis Club’s plans to redevelop the tennis courts and to build a new mini court. This major project is part funded by Sport England supplemented by loans from Lancashire Tennis and Club members.

Her visit coincided with good news reaching the Club of the award of a Summer of Difference grant through Bay Radio to support the court building project and of the achievement of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) Tennismark accreditation. This guarantees a minimum standard of delivery and procedure which is very re-assuring to junior and adult members.

Cat was very supportive of the Club’s efforts to grow and expand and accepted the invitation to the spring 2016 event to launch the new courts.
